Basic Beginnings PROJECT PRESCHOOL
has been operating since September 2003. PROJECT PRESCHOOL is funded and
monitored by the Wyoming Department of Education and the Wyoming Department of
Family Services. Preschool teachers are degreed and certified in
Elementary and Early Childhood Education and have several years of experience in
teaching young children. Many Laramie home child care providers cooperate
with Basic Beginnings, enabling children in their home-based child care program
to attend Basic Beginnings during either the morning or afternoon preschool
time. Free transportation is provided between home care provider programs
and Basic Beginnings.
A limited number of full or partial scholarships are available to qualifying
families.
The curriculum focuses on the domains established in the Wyoming Early Childhood Readiness Standards, including:
Regular assessments of children's developmental progress are used to plan for each child's unique strengths as well as needs. Regular conversation with parents are vital in determining the goals for each child for the school year. A volunteer Parent Advisory Team assists the teachers in creating a strong cooperative relationship between the PROJECT PRESCHOOL teaching staff and the families of our children.
