In June 2010 we received a grant from the Wyoming Department of Education Team Nutrition to help us plant a garden.

We held a Family Garden Night to prep the ground and plant seedlings, starter vegetables, herbs and flowers.
We learned about healthy soil, fertilizer,
mulch, and even about earthworms!

We tended our garden all summer.  We watered it, and weeded it, and measured the growth of all of our different plants.
In August we harvested our garden - several times!

We learned that herbs make our food taste more interesting and that we LOVE to eat raw zucchini!

Our teachers, AND our parents, were very surprised!

We even got a Grow-Light so we could be prepared for our 2011 garden!

We started planting seeds in February!
Then in 2011 we got another grant from the Laramie Rivers Conservation District to make our garden even better!  Trish helped us plan our garden and even helped us build lots of small gardens.

We had a pizza garden, a vegetable garden, a strawberry garden, a salad garden, a squash garden, an herb garden, several flower gardens and even a SECRET garden!
Rusty Keeler came to visit us in June and helped us redesign our infant playground.

Mr. Scott worked hard to create log benches for our new tree circle for the babies.
It's a wonderful place for crawling, sitting, looking, touching, listening and smelling.

We have a lovely sunflower garden and a delicious smelling scented garden, too!

We really love our garden!

We can't wait until spring 2012!  We get to help our new center, Basic Beginnings South, with their very first garden.  We've learned a lot in the past two years and we have lots to teach them!
